13 Things We Love about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Updated: Feb 19, 2023

It’s baaaack! And we are literally howling at the moon thinking about all the fiendish fun we are soon to be having since last week’s announcement was made that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is returning to the Walt Disney World Resort on select nights August 12th through October 31st.

This is a special ticketed event held on select nights at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. The cost for the event ranges from $109 to $199. Tickets may be purchased in advance through Castle Coaches Travel or sometimes at the gate if not already sold out. Yes, most nights will sell out, it’s THAT popular.

So, in tribute to this frightfully fun event’s return, we’ve compiled a list of 13 haunting reasons not to miss out on the SPOOKtacular evening of family fun.

1.Preternatural Parade. The Headless Horseman will ride his ghostly steed down Main Street, U.S.A. as a prelude to Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade,” which features floats filled with Disney Characters dressed in their Halloween best, Disney villains and the Haunted Mansion graveyard diggers. 2.Tasty Treats. What’s Halloween without candy? During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests can go trick-or-treating for M&M’S, SKITTLES, SNICKERS, and other Halloween favorites at locations throughout Magic Kingdom Park. Party goers will also receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag f to fill that will feature an exclusive 50th Anniversary celebration and Halloween design. 3.More Hocus Pocus. Join the Sanderson Sisters during the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” stage show at Cinderella Castle as they call upon their frightening colleagues to conjure the ultimate “Hocus Pocus” Party Potion. 4.Chillin’ Villains. Celebrate the evening alongside favorite Disney villains as they make appearances and try to take over the park on their favorite fright nights of the year. 5.Ghoulish Goodies. Are you already craving pumpkin spice everything? At MNSSHP, you will discover sweet and savory menu items inspired by fall flavors and the Halloween season. There will be more sweets, savories, and sips than we can even hope for, and we can’t wait for all the yummy details! 6.Swinging Swag - In honor of the 50th Anniversary celebration, Disney is adding event-exclusive step-in photo opportunities. And in addition to the reusable trick-or-treating tote bag, guests will also receive a Halloween-themed 50th Anniversary celebration commemorative print. And of course, nobody wants to leave without a popcorn buckets exclusive to the event. 7.Dramatic Décor. We are so looking forward to enjoying some of our favorite attractions awash with overlays themed for the occasion. We know we’re going to thrill to décor enhancements to Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean and Monsters, Inc. and Laugh Floor. 8.Fiendish Fireworks. The Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, will host “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular.” This can’t-miss nighttime extravaganza features projections, special effects and lighting mixed with fireworks, music and Disney characters. 9.Creative Costumes. They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, there’s altogether…marvelous! One of the many things that makes MNSSHP extra special is the creativity of the guests who arrive in full costumes. People-watching is an attraction in itself, as fellow Halloween lovers unleash their inner ghouls and goblins with the results being typically awesome. 10.The Cadaver Dans. The sound is no less harmonious when our favorite polished quartet gets down in the dirt with the rest of us as the don frightful apparel. They can be seen singing away in Frontierland during the party. 11.Smaller Crowds. Because this is a limited ticket event, you will find fewer crowds and shorter lines for attractions, food, treat stands and character visits. Which means more time to enjoy everything MNSSHP has to offer. 12. Costumed Characters. Mickey, Minnie and all their friends are dressed for the occasion in custom Halloween costumes exclusive to the event. Catch one-of-a-kind photos with your favorite Disney friends. 13.Magic Shots. There are so many Photopass Magic Shots exclusive to the event that will add so much to your collection. In the past, we’ve gotten some great shots around the Haunted Mansion, others with the Headless Horseman, Jack Skellington and Sally AND MORE. Just like the Haunted Mansion has 999 ghosts but room for ONE more, we always have room for additions to our lists. We want to know what your favorite thing about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party is. Visit us at Castle Coaches Travel or tell us in the comments. Perhaps it’ll turn up on a future list. Like our favorite Ghost Host says, there’s always room for one more…AHAHAHAHAHA!
